Samsung Mobile Display (SMD) is developing an AMOLED screen is durable and can be bent when displaying video without damaging the screen. This screen prototype 2.8-inch size and has a resolution 166ppi. It weighs only 0.29g and is only 20 micrometers thick. Samsung believes can bring this AMOLED display on the world market in 2012.Such screens would be useful especially on smartphone devices, which will bring a new level for in terms of thickness and durability as well as allowing the development of new device form factors. SMD is planning to introduce the TFT on plastic panels and to replace the existing protection of sheet vinyl with a polyimide film to prevent residue when the light emitted.
